Summary:
Student Service Assistants provide exceptional customer service to students, visitors, and Western stakeholders.
Often the first point of contact at Western, our Student Service Assistants welcome everyone into Mustang Central and provide direct help or ensure visitors are directed to the proper campus resource.
People in this role help students solve unique challenges, and every day brings something new.
Student Service Assistants also have technical and clerical duties pertaining to student entry and processing functions, including admissions, housing, financial aid, student IDs, and registration & records.
It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, and competent manner and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed.
Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public.
This individual will follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND

o Welcome internal and external visitors and represent Western in a friendly and approachable manner.
o Develop and maintain knowledge of all student intake process policies and procedures and share information in a manner that is clearly understood by students, their parents, and the general public.
o Process transactions dealing with enrollment including registration & records, housing, financial aid, student IDs, and admission for prospects, students, parents, staff, faculty, the College community, and other parties.
o Process credit and non-credit registrations through walk-ins, e-mail correspondence, and phone calls.
o Maintain a current knowledge base regarding the operation of the institution as it applies to their position and students and faculty.
o Communicate pertinent information and addresses inquiries and responds to concerns and complaints.
Troubleshoots solutions and make referrals to directors as appropriate and necessary.
o Learn student and community member needs and provide appropriate solutions and referrals.
o Process student transcript requests for both official and unofficial documents.
o Produce Student ID cards as needed for all WWCC students through use of the college's building access system.
o Assist other staff in Mustang Central with clerical tasks, projects, and events as needed.
o Answers and transfers phone calls as necessary.
o Instructs students on how to access and use web services.
Distributes confidential login information when needed.
OTHER DUTIES AND

o Maintains safe working conditions and practices at all times.
o Assures that confidentiality is safeguarded while handling student and employee records.
o Safeguards institutional physical resources by caring properly for assets assigned to the workstation and by prohibiting unauthorized use.
o Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies, keeping proper records as necessary.
o Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM
Qualifications:

Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities.

High School Equivalency Three (3) years of administrative assistant experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
